The truck frame is the base of the machine which attaches all the other forklift parts including the mast, axles, wheels, counterweight, overhead guard and power source. In an electric forklift the large lead-acid battery itself may serve as part of the counterweight.

The Cab Area – this area of the tuck contains many forklift parts within it. The cab area is where the operator sits and drives the machine and operates the forks. The cab has the steering wheel and control, the seats, the pedals, levers, switches, and a dashboard containing operator readouts. Daily Forklift Truck Maintenance

Many businesses require a forklift truck for their day to day operation. A forklift truck can be a valuable piece of machinery for any business involved in, or planning to be involved in, the movement of heavy goods and materials. Forklifts are used extensively, and there are many different types of machine, each more suited to a specific job that the next. Fuel type is one such consideration in the process of selecting the correct forklift truck for the application. Forklifts are available as diesel, gas or electric, regardless of fuel type all require daily maintenance checks to ensure the safety and smooth running of the vehicle on a day to day basis. The following article provides an overview of what these checks should include for each fuel type, and who should carry them out.

Anyone involved in the operation of a forklift truck should be qualified to do so. This is a legal requirement much like obtaining a driving licence. Furthermore qualifying to operate one type of forklift truck, does not cover the same operator to drive another. For example a licence for a telescopic handler would not cover the same operator to drive a rough terrain forklift truck. This is important to take note of, if your business requires the use of a number of different types of machine. Ensure that any operators have taken a conversion course to cover any additional truck types they are required to drive (see earlier article for more details on forklift truck driver training). A key component of any forklift truck training course, and one of the first elements to be taught is the routine daily checks, which must be performed on the machine prior to use. This is the case for diesel, gas or electric trucks, for which the following checks should be performed:

Electric

1. Check battery electrolyte levels after charging battery
2. Check hydraulic oil level
3. Check all wheel nuts for tightness
4. Inspect hoses for leaks and damage
5. Visually inspect tyres for damage and inflation pressure
6. Top up batteries with distilled water/di-ionised

Additionally ensure that batteries are recharged after each shift, and avoid engaging in random charging.

Diesel / Gas

1. Check radiator water level
2. Check engine oil level
3. Check all wheel nuts for tightness
4. Check fuel level
5. Visually check water trap
6. Inspect hoses for leaks and damage
7. Examine tyres visually for damage and inflation pressure

Ensuring that the above checks are carried out not only prolong the life and ensure the safety of your forklift truck, they also reduce any costs incurred. Any neglect or misuse of a forklift truck will result in damage and hence unnecessary costs, therefore it is wise to make sure operators sign off on such duties on a daily basis. In summary making certain that your forklift is well maintained, and daily checks carried out, can not only prolong the life of any machine the business owns and ensure safety is preserved, but also make sure that additional costs are not incurred.

The tape is used in therapy to relax overused muscles and in rehabilitation to facilitate underused muscles. The wave pattern found on the tape’s adhesive has a lifting effect on the skin which can reduce swelling and inflammation by improving circulation and reduce pain by taking pressure off pain receptors.

The popularity of Kinesiology Therapeutic Tape in the United States surged after 50,000 rolls were donated and the tape was seen on Olympic athletes in the 2008 Beijing Summer Games. Of these athletes, the most notable was Kerri Walsh who used the tape in competition following surgery on her rotator cuff. However, only 15% of applications are for athletic purposes. Lance Armstrong, 7 time winner of the Tour de France, talks about using tape in his book “Every Second Counts”. He describes the effectiveness of the treatment for his sore muscles. Serena Williams has also used therapeutic tapes during competition. University of Connecticut basketball player Hasheem Thabeet wore black Kinesiology Therapeutic tape on his left shoulder during the 2009 Men’s NCAA basketball tournament.

Comparison to other taping techniques

Kinesiology Therapeutic taping differs from the use of traditional white athletic tape and McConnell tape. White athletic taping technique is the most common in North America. White athletic tape is extremely rigid and requires a pre-wrap prior to application. Used for acute and preventative injuries. Left on for a short period of time, typically applied immediately prior to an activity and taken off immediately thereafter. This technique may cause skin irritation due to moisture entrapment, high latex content, skin compression, joint compression and muscle compression.[citation needed]

McConnell Taping is a bracing or strapping technique using a rigid, cotton mesh highly adhesive tape. Most commonly used for pattelafemoral syndrome, shoulder subluxation, lumbar, foot, and hip impingement.[citation needed] It is left on for no more than 18 hours due to in-adverse skin reaction, and is typically left on for a shorter period of time due to its constricting and suffocating feel.[citation needed] Affects bio mechanics of patient. Primarily used for neuromuscular re-education of the affected condition it is widely accepted by the medical community.

Kinesiology Therapeutic Taping is a taping technique that works with the body allowing full range of motion (ROM). This technique will not adversely affect the bio mechanics of the patient. Because Kinesiology Tape is latex free it is hypoallergenic and safe to use from the pediatric to geriatric populations. No compression to the skin makes it “light to the feel” allowing comfortable wear over a 3 to 5 day period. The water resistant fabric wicks away moisture and gives the wearer the ability to bathe as normal. Kinesiology Taping works with the lymphatic system to increase circulation of blood and lymph in order to rehabilitate and relieve pain.[citation needed] Used for virtually all clinical conditions.[dubious discuss]

any ideas on how to get a 500+ pound lawn mower into the back of a truck?

its pretty huge im taking it for scrap
ive been putting it off few about a month now lol and i need to get it before i forget about it and this scrap yard i go to is offering me 340 a ton if i bring alot if i dont bring over 1000 pounds which i can do i have more stuff to get it to 1000 if its under i get about 220 a ton..everybody else gets 180 a ton for scrap steel >:)
and im like OKAY ILL GET IT
i took the deck off awhile ago
that was 700 pounds on its own i had a forklift for that but i dont have one now because school is over(this is at the school i went to i just graduated btw)
the mower might be more than 500 maybe in the 800 area im not sure it has a 4 cylinder honda engine in it with a tranny+ transfer case and 4 wheels
i can remove alot of the stuff…i went there to take the radiator out to get a quick 20 bucks and didnt realise you have to flip it over in order to do it there are lines running the bottom that you have to get off with an open end wrench i think its a 1″ that you cant reach if it its not flipped
should i just take it apart? or do you have some trick as to get it in there? im pretty good and getting giant things in the back of a pick up by myself but…this may not workout if i try lifting it
you think itd work being so heavy?
im not trying to have it roll back on me..that would be deadly
