How do I find an entry level forklift operator job?
I’ve been searching for 2 months and it seems all the forklift operator job opportunities i come accross are for operators with at least 2-5 years experience. I have about a year and some change total experience, with mostly 5k electric sit down lift trucks and maybe 3 months 5k LP sit down lift truck experience. I’m certified but don’t have much experience and if everyone requires 2+ years experience, how am I supposed to find a entry level job so I can get some experience? Any ideas anyone? thanks!
Can someone help me make this email more professional, with punctuation and wording?
Tonight there was an incident, which took place at the Globe yard. Jon pulled into the yard loaded with two vehicles. While Jon was pulling into the Mesa yard, the gate closed on the rear vehicle in tow, a stolen recovery. No damage occurred to the vehicle except a flat tire, according to Jon, and no damage caused to the truck. All damage occurred to the sliding electric gate. The gate can still somewhat close, but the damage can still allow someone access to the yard through the gate if attempted.
I attempted to reach our mechanic, Mark, at 12:20AM and was unable to contact him, but did leave a message. I instructed a driver to nudge the forklift against the gate until repairs are to be made. For now, the drivers can access the yard through the gate adjacent to the front office

Forklift Battery Safety Guide

Batteries are one of the most efficient power sources available for forklifts. Handling and maintenance of the batteries is a fairly safe operation if handled correctly but the units do carry some hazards. Proper equipment such as battery handling systems, and well-defined safety procedures ensure your workers will be protected during charging and replacement tasks.
Battery Handling Systems
Forklift batteries are very heavy. Although an average worker can pick one up, battery handling systems ensure the worker is kept safe when changing out a forklift’s power cell. These units lift and move batteries out of the forklift and allow workers to transport them safely to the charging area. By keeping workers far from the batteries, these units limit exposure to corrosive acid, flammable gas and electric shock dangers.
Some battery handling systems hold a single layer of cells and are ideal for small fleets. Larger units have internal lifts to store batteries on multiple layers, maximizing storage in a small space. Other equipment takes care of washing acid off the outside of the batteries such as Hp PF723A battery, Compaq Presario V2000 battery(on best) minimizing worker exposure to corrosive materials.
Safety Equipment
Battery handling systems are only one component of an overall forklift power safety system. OSHA regulations as well as simple common sense dictate there must be other systems in place to minimize the chance of accident, and to treat workers in the unlikely event of injury.
Even when using materials handling equipment, workers should wear proper personal protective equipment. Eye protection, thick rubber gloves and corrosion-resistant aprons guard against any sudden acid splashes. An emergency eyewash station should be present in the charging area, and the path to the station must be kept clear of obstacles. Remember, a worker who needs an eyewash station is probably approaching blindly. Finally, the charging area needs to have adequate ventilation to prevent the buildup of explosive hydrogen gas.
Policies And Procedures
Technology is only as good as the people operating in it. Without clearly defined operational procedures and adequate training, workers will perform their jobs in an unsafe manner. Without safety instruction, employees will waste valuable time in an accident trying to decide what to do, and are likely to make the wrong choices.
Tasks such as power cell replacement should be laid out in writing, detailing each step. It is better to have too much instruction than too little. Be careful about assuming what “everyone” knows. Workers should be instructed in operating battery handling systems and safety equipment, and should be closely supervised during training so they don’t pick up bad habits. Managers need to emphasize in both word and deed that safety, not efficiency or profits or anything else, is the most important goal for the company.
Battery handling systems include both the equipment and the policies behind it. Comprehensive systems lower injury rates, creating a safer and happier working environment.

How To Increase Hp 446507-001 Battery Runtime For Hp Battery
This instructable is intended to show how one may replace the dead li-ion/li-poly cells of a HP laptop battery and how one may increase the capacity of the HP 446507-001 Battery by adding extra cells. The reason why adding extra cells to the internal laptop battery is suggested compared to carrying around an external battery pack is that for the same amount of cells in an external pack, the laptop can run significantly longer if those HP 446507-001 Battery cells were used internally.

What To Look For In a Forklift Hire Company & Forklift Parts Explained

Searching for a forklift hire company is a very important decision to make because you will be working with this company on an ongoing basis. It is important to choose a reliable forklift hire company for your forktruck needs because in most organizations you cannot operate without one. Here is a look at what to look out for when you are deciding which forklift hire company to go with.
Â
Forklift Hire Customer Reviews – asking the forklift hire company their level of service is a good place to start but of course you will receive a biased response. A great way of knowing for sure the ins and outs of the company’s service and the quality of the forklift trucks is to ask for customer reviews and testimonials. Most companies will be able to provide you with several customer reviews and their contact details so you have the option of contacting them directly to ask any question you wish.
Â
Contract Terms – before committing to any forklift hire company be sure to read the contract and the terms thoroughly. It is a common mistake to read a quotation quickly, check the price is right, and then sign a deal but this can lead to hassle down the line. Even if you are not sure what you are looking for exactly within the contract be sure to take some time out and read it and understand it, this process will bring certain items to your attention that might not fit you requirements.
Â
Easy To Get Hold Of Past The Sales – you may have wound your forklift hire company choice down to 2 or 3 organisations. A great way of making your final decision is to ensure that the after sales level of service is as good as the sales service. Try and contact the company via the customer help lines or emails and see what their process is and how long it takes them to get back to you. The forefront of many companies are great but once you are a customer their level of service dips somewhat. Be sure you choose a company where this does not happen.
If you are searching for forklift parts Forktruck Solutions has a great range and loads more informtion and articles.

Forklift Parts Explained
Â
Forklift trucks are pivotal pieces of machinery in many different avenues of business including warehouses and distribution centres, storage handling businesses, industrial plants, and more. There are hundreds of parts that make up a forklift truck such as the cab, the power source, the carriage, the attachments, the engines, the wheels, etc. Here is a closer look at some of those forklift parts.
Â
Forklift Engine – the power source of the forklift truck is situated at the back of the forklift truck. Depending on the type of forklift truck will depend on the type of engine that is situated at the power source for example a fork truck may have an internal combustion engine that can be powered by LP gas, CNG gas, gasoline or diesel. Electric forklifts are powered by a battery or fuel cells that provides power to the electric motors.
Â
Truck Frame – this part is probably the most important of all the forklift parts put together because it is the core of the fork truck. The truck frame is the base of the machine which attaches all the other forklift parts including the mast, axles, wheels, counterweight, overhead guard and power source. The frame may have fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks constructed as part of the frame assembly.
Â
Counterweight Forklift Parts – the counterweight part is to balance out the machine. It is a cast iron mass which is attached the backend of the forklift truck to counterbalance forklift truck frame so it doesn’t tip over when the forklift truck has a heavy load on the front. In an electric forklift the large lead-acid battery itself may serve as part of the counterweight.
Â
The Cab Area – this area of the tuck contains many forklift parts within it. The cab area is where the operator sits and drives the machine and operates the forks. The cab has the steering wheel and control, the seats, the pedals, levers, switches, and a dashboard containing operator readouts. Depending on the type of forklift truck will depend on whether the cab area is open aired or closed.

Counterbalance forklifts are popular pieces of equipment in the material handling business. They are actually popular equipment found in warehouses and factories all-around the world. The leading lift truck producers like for instance Linde, Toyota and Mitsubishi all create counterbalance lift trucks. They are existing in a variety of fuel options such as gas, diesel or electric. Normally, a counterbalanced forklift truck includes the following components:
The Cab is the area that has a seat designed for the individual operating ti and houses the control pedals, levers, steering wheel, a dashboard containing operator readouts and a variety of switches. The Truck Frame is the foundation of the equipments that each of the different parts, the axles, wheels, power source, mast and counterweight are all attached to. The frame can also have hydraulic fluid tanks and fuel tanks constructed as part of its assembly. The Mast is the vertical assembly that does the majority of the work raising and lowering the forklift’s load. Â
Made of heavy iron the counterweight is connected to the rear of the forklift frame. The objective of the counterweight is to offset the cargo being carried and transferred. Utilizing an electric forklift, the big lead-acid battery itself could function as part of or all of the counterweight. The Power Supply can have an internal combustion engine that can be powered by gasoline, LP gas, CNG gas or diesel. Electric lift trucks are driven by either fuel cells which provide power to electric motors or a battery. The electric motors may be either AC or DC kinds. Â
Fork attachments are numerous kinds of material handling attachments that are available comprising carpet poles, pole handlers, side shifters, multipurpose clams, carton clamps, slip-sheet attachments, fork positioners, roll clamps and container handlers.
When needing to park pallets closely together, the counterbalance lift truck is the ideal electric lift designed for the job. According to Forklift Forks, there are many benefits to using a counterbalance lift rather than straddle-leg and fork-over designs. They do have a few disadvantages though. A counterbalanced forklift could carry pallets straight off the floor since there are no stabilization legs to interfere. The main disadvantage of this particular unit of forklift is that the weight capacity and lift height would normally be less compared to the other kinds.Â

Getting the right counterbalance forklift
Counterbalanced forklifts has a heavy weight mounted at the rear of the truck whose sole purpose is to counterbalance the weight of the load being lifted on the forks, it is wise not to exceed the lifting capacity of the forklift as the counterbalance will not be heavy enough.

Daily Forklift Truck Maintenance

Many businesses require a forklift truck for their day to day operation. A forklift truck can be a valuable piece of machinery for any business involved in, or planning to be involved in, the movement of heavy goods and materials. Forklifts are used extensively, and there are many different types of machine, each more suited to a specific job that the next. Fuel type is one such consideration in the process of selecting the correct forklift truck for the application. Forklifts are available as diesel, gas or electric, regardless of fuel type all require daily maintenance checks to ensure the safety and smooth running of the vehicle on a day to day basis. The following article provides an overview of what these checks should include for each fuel type, and who should carry them out.
Anyone involved in the operation of a forklift truck should be qualified to do so. This is a legal requirement much like obtaining a driving licence. Furthermore qualifying to operate one type of forklift truck, does not cover the same operator to drive another. For example a licence for a telescopic handler would not cover the same operator to drive a rough terrain forklift truck. This is important to take note of, if your business requires the use of a number of different types of machine. Ensure that any operators have taken a conversion course to cover any additional truck types they are required to drive (see earlier article for more details on forklift truck driver training). A key component of any forklift truck training course, and one of the first elements to be taught is the routine daily checks, which must be performed on the machine prior to use. This is the case for  diesel, gas or electric trucks, for which the following checks should be performed:
Electric
1. Check battery electrolyte levels after charging battery
2. Check hydraulic oil level
3. Check all wheel nuts for tightness
4. Inspect hoses for leaks and damage
5. Visually inspect tyres for damage and inflation pressure
6. Top up batteries with distilled water/di-ionised
Additionally ensure that batteries are recharged after each shift, and avoid engaging in random charging.
Diesel / Gas
1. Check radiator water level
2. Check engine oil level
3. Check all wheel nuts for tightness
4. Check fuel level
5. Visually check water trap
6. Inspect hoses for leaks and damage
7. Examine tyres visually for damage and inflation pressure
Ensuring that the above checks are carried out not only prolong the life and ensure the safety of your forklift truck, they also reduce any costs incurred. Any neglect or misuse of a forklift truck will result in damage and hence unnecessary costs, therefore it is wise to make sure operators sign off on such duties on a daily basis. In summary making certain that your forklift is well maintained, and daily checks carried out, can not only prolong the life of any machine the business owns and ensure safety is preserved, but also make sure that additional costs are not incurred.
